Collection: Buried Treasure

Deep within the earth is a gem known as amethyst. The collection highlights this stunning February birthstone and it's companion; ametrine. (amethyst and citrine)

Amethyst is a variety of quartz found mainly in Brazil and Uruguay. The purple color is formed when trace amounts of iron seep into the growing quartz crystal.  

Ametrine is only found in Bolivia. It was discovered in the 17th century

Ancient Greeks believed that drinking wine from a cup made of amethyst would make them immune to intoxication! Hence the Greek name 'amethustos' meaning not drunk.
